MECCA 2023 EVENT & TRAVEL DETAILS

RACE INFORMATION

The third annual MECCA Ditch Race is lit to pop on October 7th of 2023 in the desert just east of Las Vegas, NV!! Nestled between two red rock mountain ranges, this seemingly unexpected venue is the site of the official ISSA Prime Sanctioned World Banked Slalom Championships!!

RACE PLAN

The MECCA Ditch Race is a multi-discipline, traditional race structure (using ISSA rules), single-day event. All skateboard and QUAD competitors are welcome to attend (ISSA points are only applicable to the skateboard divisions).

We will have a separate skateboard division for Men and Women and will track ISSA points for Pro, Am, and Master's brackets. We will have a roll-in ramp option for the skateboard banked slalom event and QUADS will begin from the top corner of the dedicated QUAD ditch.

GENERAL SCHEDULE

10.06 | FRI - Site/event prep, course setup, practice runs, and pre-event meet/greet.

10.07 | SAT - Skateboard and QUAD Banked Slalom races followed by awards ceremony.

10.08 | SUN - <Sunday is not an official race day but is reserved should any unforeseen challenges force the event to run longer than expected on Saturday> 

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

MECCA Ditch – The MECCA Ditch event racecourses are located at the following:

    • From the above dropped pin location, you will see a road that veres off to your right whihc leads directly to the MECCA Ditch Race 2023 parking area

MECCA Parking – You Hajj to the MECCA Ditch begins at the designated parking area.

  • Directions:
    1. Take East Vegas Valley Drive all the way out past South Hollywood Blvd.
    2.  When you reach the intersection of E Vegas Valley Dr & Rainbow River Dr (EARL N. JENKINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL), take the road veering off to the right.
    3. Follow this road until you arrive at the MECCA Ditch Race event parking lot.

EVENT SITE DETAILS

MECCA Ditch is remotely located and is NOT near and any populated areas. It is recommended that you be prepared to make the nearly 2 mile "Hajj" from the designated parking area, up to the event race area.

Shuttle vehicles will be available to provide shuttle services from the parking areas, but they will first be ensuring that all of the event gear and supplies are delivered to the event site first.

Minimal natural shade is available at MECCA Ditch, and competitors/spectators are encouraged to bring any seating, shade (umbrellas/canopy tents) sunscreen, etc. There will be multiple canopy tents erected as part of the event but most of the tents will be used for event staff and functions. There will be a few tents erected to provide shade for racers & spectators.

On-site water and snacks will be made available, but competitors/spectators are also welcome to bring their own picnic supplies.

Bathroom Facilities will be provided at the top of MECCA Ditch (event/race area). These facilities are remote location solutions and thus do not consist of running water or flushing ability.

RACE DAY AMENITIES

All competitors will be provided:

  • Breakfast tacos upon arrival.
  • On-site lunch & water.
  • An official MECCA Ditch Race 2023 event t-shirt and swag bag.
  • Pre-Registrants will also receive a commemorative MDR23 Challenge Coin, minted specifically for this third annual event.

 

ENTRY FEE

The 2023 MECCA Ditch Race World Banked Slalom Skateboarding Championship entry fee includes competition and all racer amenities.

EVENT SCHEDULE
